Recipient Org: Description | Our mission is 'For the Hippodrome Theatre to be a focus for the whole community to be inspired by and engaged in the arts.' The aims are to: 1. educate and entertain people by providing a broad and balanced programme of artistic activities 2. strengthen and develop the community of Todmorden and surrounding areas by providing accessible facilities for all 3. to widen and enhance our Youth provision 4. provide an accessible community space, for artistic and other community uses 5. to secure the long term future of TAODS We have a very strong volunteer base, and an experienced and enthusiastic executive committee. TAODS is highly regarded for its with its vibrant Youth Theatre, and has strong links with a variety of local community groups. We present plays, musicals and youth musicals on our main-stage and in our foyer space. These are produced in house - from performers to technical creation, front of house to publicity. We attract an annual audience of ten thousand and provide volunteering or performing opportunities for 500 people from Todmorden and Calderdale. We show films at the Electric Palace – the admission of £1 ensures that anybody, on whatever income, can see good films. |
