Recipient Org: Description All Ears was set up in 2020 in memory of Aleysha Rothwell who died by suicide aged 16 and is ran by her friend, Amy, a qualified person-centred therapist with lived experience of mental health issues and suicide bereavement. Everyone involved in All Ears is extremely passionate about making a difference for young vulnerable people. The main objectives of All Ears is to educate, prevent and support those dealing with issues surrounding their mental health. Since 2020, we have delivered educative assemblies to over 4000 pupils via school and college workshops and over 20,000 young people across 40 different schools have had access to our mindfulness journals. We hope that our presentations have a long-lasting impact upon young people and highlight creative ways in which they can look after their own wellbeing. With prevention, we run workshops with specific vulnerable groups e.g. care leavers and offer a safe space to offload via art therapy sessions. We are currently working closely with the Care Leavers Hub in Wigan to showcase creative ways in which they can healthily process their emotions and experiences. We aim to help the care leavers to create and maintain positive relationships with each other and help them feel supported throughout difficult experiences they may be facing and provide a sense of hope and method of escapism in times of hardship using art therapy. We hope this will replace unhealthy methods that may have been used previously e.g. drink and/or drugs, and our long-term aim is to ensure that no young person misses out on the care that they deserve with the ever-growing demand and lengthy waiting lists for CAMHS and NHS services.
