Recipient Org: Description The association was established to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Lincoln Courts, Brigade and Rossdowney areas in Londonderry in Northern Ireland (hereafter called the "area of benefit") without distinction of age, gender, sexuality, nationality, ethnic origin, political or religious opinion, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and the inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interest of social welfare for the recreation of other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. Lincoln Courts Youth & Community Association are a grassroots community organisation set up and run by residents of the Lincoln Courts to improve access to services and opportunities for those of all ages, living within the estate. The group strives to access funding to run programmes and schemes to target those most in need in our area as well as aiming to regenerate the physical environment in and around the estate. We represent the area at a local and city-wide level working with a range of statutory, community and voluntary bodies. Current Programmes Running: Older Peoples programmes - Monthly Tea Dances, Senior Citizens Luncheon Club Parents Toddler Groups. Community Education Programmes - GCE, AQEs, OCNs etc Health and well being- Programmes - A range of exercise classes are provided in the community such as Circuit Training, karate and kick-boxing. Youth Intervention Projects. Advice service - welfare, universal credit etc. Community Barber LCYCA operate a robust financial system and have vast experience of grant management. The organisation has a dedicated financial policy which outlines its commitments in ensuring sound financial management of public and other funds. The association use only cheques or BACs payment. A cheque(s) will not be paid without an invoice; the invoice and cheque(s) have to be signed by two signatories. (Office bearers) A cheque Requisition file is kept, which contains a copy of the signed cheque, original invoice, cheque number and date, name of funder, and invoice number details. In respect of BAC payments all transactions must be authorised by the treasurer. All financial transactions are discussed at monthly committee meetings and at subcommittee meetings between office bearers and the Project Manager. Spreadsheets are also kept with Income / Expenditure logs and cheque Journals. The accounts are overseen by a registered local accountant and produced annually. LCYCA have policies and procedures in place to safeguard the personal safety of all children and vulnerable adults. All Volunteers will be AccessNI background checked.
