Recipient Org: Description Portstewart Football Club was founded in 1968 to provide sporting and social opportunities for the people of Portstewart and surrounding areas. This includes the provision for males, females, children and older people alike. The clubs main objectives is to encourage participation of all levels to ensure locals have access to physical activity and sporting provision on an ongoing basis. At present we have over 150 members at the club. We deliver weekly provision to our youth section which runs from under 10 to under 13 who are called the "Wee Hawks", comprising of 60 members. The club also provides opportunities for young people under 20 to participate in the PIL Development League. The Club's reserve team has a further 20 members who compete in the Coleraine and District Morning League while our Senior First Team Compete in the NIFL Premier Intermediate League. The Club also runs a number of social events and fundraising initiatives which attracts the participation of the wider community, further establishing the club a vibrant community hub. We also actively encourage our volunteer coaches to undertake coach education to further their knowledge and experience and therefore regularly send our coaches on upskilling courses.
