| Recipient Org: Description | Power of the mind networks exists to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing women in particular women from African BAME community in Northampton and surrounding areas from becoming socially excluded due to their current circumstances and support them to integrate into the communities they live in. We do this by providing a platform for women to share stories around their lived experiences. Through our work with our community, we have realised people share their stories in different ways and we therefore provide different activities for people to share their story in the best way possible. The activities we provide are Afro dance exercises, cookery sessions for those who want to learn how to cook and we hold monthly mental health awareness workshops which are attended by counsellors, CBT therapists, talking therapists and mental health nurses to offer support to struggling individuals as follow up to the workshops. We regularly run food parcels projects which are a much needed activity in our community. We also run a befriending service through our free to chat mobile numbers which are manned by our volunteers. |
