Recipient Org: Description Ignite Life supports young people and families overcome adversity. Ignite focuses on relieving the needs of disadvantaged and/or marginalised young people through supporting with wellbeing and mental-health, family support, addressing food poverty and economic inequality and educational support. We run three main services which aim to work collectively to provide the best support, these are mentoring, counselling, and food delivery. We provide mentoring to vulnerable young people when a school environment is not meeting their needs. We are able to create safe and nurturing relationships with young people who often don’t have the confidence to leave their house; we focus on raising self-esteem and confidence and re-engage them with education. Shortly after creating our mentoring service, we observed the real need for essential mental health support for those most vulnerable in our community as they face the most barriers to accessing support and have experienced multiple adversities which need supporting. In January 2021 we launched our counselling service for young people and, in a year, we have provided over 40 young people with 6-24 weeks of counselling. Finally, when the pandemic hit, we created a food delivery service which provides meals and food parcels to families in food poverty. Since April 2020, with the help of many local volunteers and other community organisations, we have been able to provide over 80,000 meals and £2000 to families in food poverty and we continue to do so. All of our services aim to reduce isolation and support those most disadvantaged in our community, not only through direct essential support, but also by creating volunteering opportunities for members of our community and for the young people we support. This helps to connect people and give people the opportunity to give back and be a part of an amazing team.
