Stay Safe - Ambassador Project
The funding will be used to expand a pilot project and train 10 junior play workers as Stay Safe Ambassadors to provide information advice and support to children aged 8 – 13 on how to stay safe and avoid activities like anti-social behaviour and how to stay safe online. The peer-led project aims to provide children with good awareness and skills to avoid risky situations and feel safer.
Manchester Young Lives Covid-19 Response
Manchester Young Lives (MYL) is a youth organisation supporting young people aged five-24 across the city of Manchester. It aims to improve opportunities for young people living increasingly complex lives through work in its centres established independent school and at street level through detached youth work. Funding will support 300 young people in North and Central Manchester at risk of Covid-19 by establishing a new detached youth work model.
Addy Healthy Eating Clubs
This is a project by an incorporated charity in Manchester. The organisation will use the funding to deliver a year long series of healthy cooking sessions to local parents and children. This will enable families to learn how to prepare and share healthy, affordable meals and lead to them learning new skills, having higher self esteem and lower levels of obesity.
A6 Youth Mentors
This is a project to train young people in becoming peer mentors and take others on a residential leadership training course. This will give young people the opportunity to develop the skills to host a celebration event, deliver future projects and offer mentoring support to their younger peers. The funding would be used to complete a two part plan firstly by developing ‘Chill Out Areas’ within 3 MYL centres, Moss side Adventure Playground - Moss side, A6 Young People’s Centre - Ardwick and The Addy Young People’s Centre in Wythenshawe. Secondly equip us with the resources to create ‘Portable Chill Out Areas’ within community centres where MYL deliver outreach play provision (Blackley, Newton Heath, Gorton).
