Bridging the Advice Gap
This project based in Derby delivers both direct legal advice services and strategic development, including campaigning on housing policy and practice issues and establishing new legal precedents to protect vulnerable people.It will provide specialist and targeted legal advice services and representation in housing, debt and welfare benefits for people ineligible for legal aid and vulnerable to being homeless.
Community Training and Volunteers Suite
This is a project by a group in Derby. The group will use the funding to purchase new equipment to provide people from disadvantaged backgrounds with training, volunteering and accredited skills development. This is a continuation and expansion of a project by Derbyshire Housing Aid Limited that supports and enables disadvantaged and isolated people from Erewash in Derby to rebuild their confidence, skills and employability, and to become more active within their community, thereby improving people's quality of life and ability to achieve their potential. Activities will be held at the DHA Ilkeston Centre, but there is some outreach delivery.
Erewash Job Club
This funding will be used to run employment and support services for people on benefits or looking for work. The project aims to support people with Universal Credit and job seeking.
The Youth Den
The group will use the funding to provide an extra-curricular youth group where young people can engage in positive activities. This will broaden young people’s experiences and raise expectations.

Accredited courses will be offered every month such as food safety and manual handling. City and Guilds courses will help people with employability skill. Derbyshire Bi-lingual Crisis Buddy Service (DBCBS)
Ex-clients of the service who are bi-lingual will be trained to become crisis buddies and advocates for those who identify themselves as BAMER and are in need of help and support due to hardship crisis and risk of homelessness. Buddies will help people with a plan to help get them out of crisis. Immediate support will also be provided with clothing, food and furniture.

There is an increasing number of families under the threat of homelessness due to cuts in funding, support and services across Derbyshire. A grant will enable a Families Casework Coordinator to provide 1-to-1 support and advocacy to families at the point of crisis, and follow-up support and training to help families retain their tenancies and increasing their financial literacy.
