Down Syndrome Support
The funding will be used to continue to provide direct support to families professionals and all those involved with the care and education of children and young people who have Down Syndrome.
Ups and Downs Southwest Volunteer Befriending Scheme
The group will use the funding to train 15 volunteers to support and encourage other parents of disabled children. The project will last nine weeks and be delivered by a professional trainer. This will provide prospective befrienders with the confidence and tools to assist other families experiencing difficulties managing their child’s diagnosis and offering practical support to these parents.

Ups and Downs Southwest
This is a continuation and expansion of an existing project by Ups and Downs South West. The organisation supports children with down syndrome and their families through a variety of methods including face to face meetings, family day events, group sessions and a mobile library containing a comprehensive range of books, journals, toys, software and videos for families to borrow. The organisations provides information and advice not only to families but also to healthcare professionals.
Volunteer Befriender Program
The funding will be used to recruit and train volunteers who will provide support services to families of children with Down Syndrome. The project aims to develop skills, improve wellbeing and bring people together.
Bristol Down Syndrome Support Services
The project supports children and young people with Down Syndrome across the South West, to ensure they enjoy a secure, informed environment that meets their emotional, social and educational needs. The funding will allow the project to establish a base in the city of Bristol.
