Advocacy for people with PMLD (Profound & Multiple Learning Disabilities)
A project to improve the well-being and confidence of adults with profound and multiple learning disabilities (known as PMLD) by providing advocacy to help bring improvements to their lives. The two year grant will fully fund a co-ordinator, two advocates and an administrative assistant. It will also pay for staff training, travel and running costs.

Mencap are striving to enable YPLD to have a more active role in the running of the whole of the organisation and to have their views and needs heard. The project will be based in various locations across the country including West Sussex, West Yorkshire, Somerset, Birmingham and London.

This project involves creating a green corridor community garden in a built up area of Nottingham between the grounds of Emmanuel School and the River Trent. The garden will consist of five areas; a sensory garden, pond area, relaxation area, vegetable plots and a poly tunnel.
Building Our Futures
The project is to support young people with learning disabilities to gain practical skills and experience in work and actively participate in their local community. It will provide additional support for this group to undertake work experience placements with local employers and community groups. The money is for the salaries of a Job Coach Co-ordinator, Job Coach and Support Worker, recruitment, travel, training activities, running costs and overheads.

Go For It is a new project aimed at providing intensive support for young people aged 19-25 with learning disabilities in Southeast & Southwest Wales. Through the use of personal development plans, the 'Go For It' project, will enable the beneficiaries to acquire interpesonal skills, time management and an understanding of public transport and therefore overcome barriers in order for them to better manage other life challenges and transitions and become more independent.

The project would also develop peer mentoring schemes and training and health, employment and volunteering.
