Club500- a social inclusion and homelessness prevention project for young p
The proposal for this three-year grant is to initiate a social inclusion programme called Club 500, working with vulnerable 12-22 year olds at risk of disengaging. The project will target (but not work exclusively with) young black males, providing peer mentoring, family mediation and short-term emergency accommodation (The Crash Pad).
Employment and personality development skills
Step Up provides housing and support to vulnerable single homeless 16-25 year olds, it is also active in raising the profile of youth homelessness and increasing housing options for young people in East London. This grant will help fund Club500, a social inclusion and homelessness prevention project which supports 12-22 year olds.
Club500 Crash Pad
Emergency 'crash pad' accommodation and support will be provided to young people in Newham and nearby areas of East London who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless. Six bed spaces for young people aged 16-22 will be provided for stays of up to three weeks. Advice will be offered about housing, benefits, training and employment.
Support and training for carers
The project will provide support to new and existing carers support groups, ensuring long term sustainability and development through training and peer support. The project developed from requests from local carers, which explained that current carers support groups are unable to meet some of their more specific needs.
