Promoting Community Land Ownership
This group currently have 64 members in their network and aim to promote the importance of community land ownership, raise awareness of the benefits and strengthen the powers of communities in terms of land reform. The project will enable the group to improve their promotional materials with the aim of raising awareness of community land ownership in areas of Scotland where land buyouts are less common.
Develop Land Transfer Protocol for Communities
This group will use the funding to engage a consultant to help develop a ‘land transfer protocol of communities’. This protocol would be agreed with Scottish Land and Estates (SLE) which is the body representing the interests of most privately owned estates in Scotland. The protocol would set out the expectations, in a step-by-step guide, on both parties to enable a negotiated community buy out of privately owned land.
